Taken in Washington Square Park on the hottest day of June of 2012, this ballet-posed boy takes me there everytime I see this picture. Captured in a healing and introspective trip, this image simbolizes the joy I felt in that specific time and place, a renewed joy felt after some difficult times. Kids will dance, water will splash, people will watch and everything will be ok.

Guadalajara, Mexico. Shattered Baccarat
1/160s - 28mm - f1.8 - ISO 800
My mom´s got this baccarat heirloom that has always been the object of her affection. Kept in a specially made cupboard, the glasses are never moved nor used… so when one day we heard the harmonious and melodic smash the shattering produced, we never thought of the baccarat glasses. We ran to where the sound came from, only to find half the heirloom in pieces. I exclusively took the pictures “to honor” the fallen pieces, but when I saw this one, I almost could re-hear the melodious smashing the crystal made. What a better way to show my mom that her glasses didn´t break in vain, than to have a photo that reminds us of them in a beautiful way.

Guadalajara, Mexico. Pug
1/60s - 28mm - f1.8 - ISO 400
I took this photo at a flea market one cloudy Sunday afternoon. Walking by old things, memorabilia and people, this pug caught my attention. Playing with a nearby chair, it stood patient, friendly and dignified while being photographed until I took this last shot. I simply love the dog´s expression.

Tapalpa, Jalisco. Cow Times
1/1250s - 28mm - f2.8 - ISO 100
I believe I found inspiration in photographing animals this weekend and I´ve come to realize I love it. At first the cow was scared of me coming towards her with a camera in hand, but after the first three shots, it appeared to relax and it was as if she gave me this moment in time… I captured it and then she turned and walked away as if she were saying “No more pictures please”.

1/1000s - 28mm - f2.8 - ISO 100
Almost as if he had posed, this Weimaraner was having the best time ever chilling in the countryside. Combining perfectly with the colors in the background, it never moved, but on the contrary, laid still for me to take this picture. I recently came up with the idea of publishing a dog book, if I ever do it, this photo will definitely will be a part of it.

I took this photo in the souvenir section of Walgreens at Times Square. I had to take a “very new yorkish picture” for my Bazan´s On the Street course. Wandering around the store, buying some snacks, I never thought I would take the winner picture here. I did, and eventually it became one of my four chosen pictures for the course portfolio. Love it!
